Daily Reflection: Friday, October 8

October 8, Thursday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

The prince of this world will now be cast out, and when I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all to myself.   (Jn 112:31-32)

This is the Alleluia verse from today’s mass.  Is found in the gospel of John shortly before the Passion.  Jesus says that he will draw all to himself.  To the unity that all people share by their common humanity, Jesus brings about a greater unity in himself.  When the world appears overwhelmed by division, we need to remember the greater reality and work for peace.
