A Wonderful Afternoon with Emmet Cahill
On Sunday afternoon, June 28, more than 500 people gathered at St. Francis Parish for an unforgettable afternoon of music as we welcomed internationally acclaimed Irish tenor Emmet Cahill, lead singer of Celtic Thunder, accompanied by his gifted pianist, Seamus.
From the very first notes, the audience was captivated by Emmet's rich, soaring voice and heartfelt artistry. The concert featured a beautiful blend of sacred music, Broadway classics, Irish favorites, and timeless standards. Sacred selections such as Amazing Grace / My Chains Are Gone, Lady of Knock, and Be Thou My Vision lifted hearts in prayer and reflection. Broadway's inspiring The Impossible Dream and the beloved classic Moon River showcased Emmet's remarkable versatility.
The afternoon concluded with a moving rendition of Danny Boy, leaving many in the audience deeply touched. Then came an encore worthy of the standing ovation it received—You Raise Me Up—bringing the concert to a joyful and memorable close.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the wonderful interaction between Emmet and the audience. Guests enthusiastically joined in singing Irish favorites and even surprised Emmet's sister with a heartfelt rendition of "Happy Birthday," adding warmth, laughter, and a personal touch to an already special event.
We are deeply grateful to Mary Ann and Tim O'Brien, whose friendship and connection helped bring Emmet to St. Francis Parish.
