A Blessing for a New School Year!

Although summer is still very much with us here at the shore, a new school year is already beginning for some members of our parish family. Students are beginning to leave for college, schools in other parts of the country are opening, and teachers, administrators, and school employees are preparing to welcome students back.

While our local schools will not begin until the first week of September, we want to pray now for all students, teachers, and school employees as they prepare for the year ahead.

At all Masses this weekend, we will offer a special Back-to-School Blessing for all students, teachers, and school employees. Whether you are leaving for college, beginning classes soon, or preparing now for September, we invite you to receive the prayers and blessing of our parish community.

As a new school year begins, remember that your faith goes with you. For those leaving home for college, find a Catholic community, make Sunday Mass part of your new routine, and allow your faith to guide the choices you make. For all our students, may this year be an opportunity to grow not only in knowledge, but also in kindness, compassion, service, and faith.

We pray for our teachers and school employees, too. May God give you patience, wisdom, strength, and joy as you care for and guide those entrusted to you.

May Christ go with you into every classroom, school, and campus. May you recognize Christ in the people you meet and have the courage to share his love through your words and actions.
