All Saints & All Souls: Remembering Our Loved Ones in Prayer

Dear Parish Family,

As we enter the month of November, the Church invites us to celebrate two beautiful days in our Catholic faith: the Solemnity of All Saints on November 1 and the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls Day) on November 2.

On All Saints Day, we celebrate the holy men and women who have gone before us and now share in eternal life with God. Their lives remind us that we, too, are called to holiness through prayer, kindness, and service to others.

On All Souls Day, we remember and pray for our loved ones who have died, trusting in God's mercy and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

All Souls Day – Mass of Remembrance
Monday, November 2 | 6:00 PM
St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach

Our parish family will gather for our annual Mass of Remembrance, a special liturgy honoring those who have died during the past year. During the Prayer of the Faithful, we will remember by name those who were buried from our parish, and together we will pray for their souls and for all who have gone before us.

Bringing a Photo of Your Loved One

Those attending the Mass in remembrance of a loved one are invited to bring a framed photograph. As your loved one's name is read aloud during the Prayer of the Faithful, you will be invited to bring their photograph forward and place it at our Remembrance Shrine.

The photographs will remain at the shrine throughout November, the month traditionally dedicated to praying for all the faithful departed.

Please write your name and phone number on the back of the picture frame so we can arrange for your photograph to be returned to you at the end of the month.

Including the Name of a Loved One

If you have lost a loved one this past year who was not buried from St. Francis Parish and would like their name included in the Prayer of the Faithful, please arrive 30 minutes before Mass and give their name to the lectors at the front of the church.

We warmly invite you and your family to join us for this special evening of prayer and remembrance. The Mass will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

Our Book of Remembrance

Throughout November, our Book of Remembrance will be available beside the Remembrance Shrine. All parishioners are invited to inscribe the names of their deceased loved ones in the book as we continue to remember and pray for them throughout the month.

All Souls Envelopes – Remembering Our Loved Ones Throughout November

As we begin the month of November, we also invite you to remember your deceased loved ones through our All Souls envelopes.

You may place your completed All Souls envelope in the collection basket at any Mass this weekend.

All of the envelopes will be gathered and placed on the altar beginning Monday, November 2, All Souls Day, and will remain there throughout the month of November. As we gather to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the names of our loved ones written on these envelopes will be present at the altar and remembered in our prayers.

As we remember those we love, we take comfort in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection, trusting that through Christ, death is not the end and that one day we will be reunited with those we love in God's heavenly kingdom.

Peace and all good,
St. Francis of Assisi Parish
