Daily Reflection: Wednesday, December 1

December 1.  Wednesday of the First Week of Advent

My heart is moved with pity….   (Mt 15:32)

Crowds have been following Jesus for days as he cured afflicted people.  The passage will end with the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes.

Jesus describes his feelings of compassion for the people.  For him, compassion is more than an attitude.  His whole being is compassion.  It is the way that he relates to us.  It is the way he heals us and changes us.

The collect of today’s mass begins, “Prepare our hearts….”  May our hearts become more and more like his.
