Monday, August 2

Saints of God, the Lord be with you! In today’s Gospel according to Matthew (14: 13-21) Jesus learns of the death of John the Baptist. After spending some time alone in mourning, Jesus continues His ministry of healing. I can’t help but wonder if Jesus “sang for joy to God” (Psalm 81) for the life of his friend. When we find ourselves mourning, let us remember to sing for joy to God for the life of our friends as well.
