Anointing of the Sick - Sunday, February 15
Anointing of the Sick - Sunday, February 15 | 11:30 AM Mass
On Sunday, February 15, at the 11:30 AM Mass, we will offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during our regularly scheduled Sunday liturgy. This will take place during the week when the Church observes the World Day of the Sick and honors Our Lady of Lourdes, a special time to pray for healing, comfort, and hope.
The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and strength. Through prayer and the anointing with blessed oil, Christ offers peace, courage, and grace to those who are experiencing serious illness, the effects of aging, or those preparing for surgery or ongoing medical treatment. This sacrament is not only for those at the point of death, but for anyone in need of God’s healing presence.
All who feel called to receive this sacrament are warmly invited to come forward during the Mass when the invitation is given. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to pray in support as we lift up all who are sick or suffering in our community.
We invite you to join us in prayer as we celebrate this beautiful sacrament of God’s mercy and care.

Special Daily Mass for the Memorial of St. Blaise & Blessing of Throats
Tuesday, February 3 • 9:00 AM Mass
On Monday, February 3, the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr of the 4th century, well-known for his intercession in illnesses of the throat and ailments of the body. Born in Armenia, Blaise first served as a physician and later as a bishop during a time of persecution. Tradition tells us that while in prison he miraculously healed a young boy who was choking on a fishbone. Because of this act of mercy, the Church has invoked his protection for centuries.
Blessing of Throats
During the 9:00 AM Mass on February 3, we will offer the traditional Blessing of Throats using crossed candles. This blessing asks for the intercession of St. Blaise and God’s healing grace to protect us from illnesses of the throat and from all other sicknesses of body and spirit.
The blessing includes the ancient prayer:
“Through the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr,
may God deliver you from every disease of the throat
and from every other illness.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
For more than a thousand years, the Church has cherished this sacramental as a sign of Christ’s tender care for the sick and suffering. While it is not a Sacrament, it is a beautiful reminder of the mercy of God and the communion of saints who intercede for us.
All are invited to attend the 9:00 AM Mass and receive this special blessing.
The Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas)
February 2 - The Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas)
Forty days after Christmas, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. On this day we remember how Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem, in keeping with Jewish custom, to dedicate Him to God. While there, the holy elder Simeon recognized Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah and proclaimed Him to be “a light for revelation to the nations.”
This beautiful moment reveals Jesus as the Light of the World, and it is from this theme of light that the feast gained its popular name: Candlemas. For centuries, February 2nd was also considered the “final echo” of Christmas. Some cultures even kept their crèche up until this feast because it shows Christ still as a child, being welcomed into God’s house.
Another long-standing tradition of Candlemas is the blessing of candles. Lighted candles remind us that Christ scatters the darkness and guides His people as they journey through life. At Mass on February 2nd, we will bless all the candles that will be used throughout the liturgical year for the altar, for the sacraments, and for prayer.
This feast encourages us to do what Simeon did: to recognize the presence of Jesus in our midst and to carry His light into the world. As we celebrate the Presentation of the Lord, may His light dwell in our homes, our parish, and our hearts.
